Our boxing program is central to the Azzim Dukes Initiative, providing a dynamic way for youth to channel their energy positively. Through structured training, we focus on more than just the sport; we cultivate discipline, focus, and resilience—key life skills inside and outside the ring.
Boxing acts as a powerful catalyst for change, transforming mindsets and reducing youth involvement in crime. It fosters mental resilience and strategic thinking, helping young people develop perseverance and self-control, steering them away from negative influences.
The discipline learned in boxing through rigorous routines and commitment instills a strong work ethic, impacting education and personal growth. Gyms become safe spaces where youth learn teamwork, respect and accountability, offering an alternative to NEGATIVE PEER PRESSURE.
Ultimately, boxing empowers youth to make positive choices, CHANGING their lives AND MINDSETS, and contributing to safer communities. By harnessing the sport's potential AND SCIENCE, we inspire a new generation to overcome challenges and reach their full potential.

founder.
Born in the heart of South Philadelphia, Maleek Jackson encountered a challenging path during his teenage years, which led him into a life of crime. At just 16, he was sentenced to 8-16 years in the State Penitentiary. During his decade-long incarceration, Maleek endured profound personal loss, as his brother, Azzim Dukes, and his two older brothers were tragically shot and killed.
Motivated by these experiences, Maleek founded the Azzim Dukes Initiative, driven by his deep understanding of the struggles faced by those from broken homes. He has witnessed firsthand the pervasive violence and trauma affecting Philadelphia's youth. Since his release from prison in 2014, the city has seen a dramatic rise in gun violence among youth under 18, with statistics from the Philadelphia City Controller showing an increase from 6% in 2014 to a staggering 78% in 2023.
Maleek believes that the children of Philadelphia need respect, safe spaces, and consistent support to avoid similar destructive paths. While debates continue on effective measures, community leaders like Maleek have transformed their pain into proactive efforts, taking decisive action to reduce violence and create better futures for the city's youth.
In the City of Brotherly Love, Maleek Jackson and the ADI team are committed to making a difference, striving to prevent further tragedies and foster hope and opportunity for kids and teens. Despite the hardships and lack of sufficient support infrastructure from the city, he is reminded of his brother in each child's eyes. This personal connection fuels his determination to continue his mission, providing mentorship, guidance, and safe spaces for the youth. Maleek's dedication is unwavering as he works tirelessly to create a brighter future, transforming pain into purpose and ensuring that every child has the chance to thrive through the sweet science of boxing.
